Frequently Asked Questions

No. There is no infusion fee and no patient charge, regardless of insurance status. The Heme Iron Infusion Clinic will explore all options for medication coverage, including BC PharmaCare (if approved), extended health insurance, pharmaceutical co-pay programs, and drug benefit cards.
Eligible patients are typically an infusion within 2-3 weeks of referral. Once approved, you can book your preferred date and time online. Please note this is a first-come, first-served system based on availability. If you have difficulty finding a suitable time, call us at 604-332-7988.
No. Insurance is not required to receive treatment. Our clinic works with BC PharmaCare, extended health plans, pharmaceutical co-pay cards, and private insurance to cover the cost of your medication. You will not be denied care due to insurance status.
No. The clinic coordinates directly with Pharmasave (Fleetwood, Surrey) to have your IV iron delivered to the clinic. You do not need to pick up or transport your medication.
Most infusions are completed within 15-30 minutes. Your total time in the clinic from check-in to discharge is typically 60-90 minutes, including a brief post-infusion observation period.

Our team is available Monday to Saturday, 8am-6pm. Referrals are reviewed by a hematologist and patients receive care within 2-3 weeks.
